The road to Scomber

Mindin walked side by side with Dulcea up until the light vanished from the sky. She's no eye sore Mindin though to himself but she's not so big on the conversation bit it seems... wonder what her name is.

"Well seeing as this is about the time bandits come out could I get your name?"

[Dulcea]

Dulcea gripped her staff tightly in her hand, it was after all her favorite weapon. Her sword was snug in it's sheath with pounded against Dulcea's bare thigh as she walked. She had her famous many layered green cloak wrapped around her as they walked. She turned to the man when he spoke. "I am Dulcea, Master Warrior and Guardian." She said with a half smile. "And you? What is your name?"

"Well, if your looking for a name other than my own' like the great Dack Thorn your out of luck but my name is Mindin Crale." Mindin started examining the cloak as he walked. "Nice cloak, have a story behind it?"

Three well armed men walked behind them and to the well trained eye you could tell they were looking at Mindin and Dulcea. Another armored man walked nearly along their side. Also a man stood further up the road a long ways ahead, his armor glistened in the distance.

[Dulcea]

Dulcea smirked when he commented on her cloak. "It belonged to an old Lich King. I took it off him after I killed him." Dulcea said proudly. That had happened nearly 5 years ago and almost everyone in the land recognized Dulcea by her cloak. Dulcea stopped walking when she saw the man ahead of her and turned around to see the other behind them.

She frowned and threw off her cloak, which had a tendancy to get in the way during a fight.

"A lich king, that's hot stuff." Mindin said seemingly absent mindedly as he continued. Mindin didn't stop walking as the cloak was thrown to the ground.

"We'd be liken a word with ya." The front man said as Mindin started walking by.

Mindin then unsheathed his blade on his right sided pointing backward with his right hand as he was passing the man and proceeded to try and re-sheath in in the mans back all in one motion.

[Dulcea]

(Alrighty. Works for me!)

Caught by the swift movement and surprise, the man couldnt' do anything to stop the blade from slicing into his back, causing him to fall to the ground. Dulcea smirked as she turned and faced the closest man, twirling her staff in her hands as she did so.

"Hey! He killed Benny! Get em'!" The bandit shouted as one of them rushed Dulcea. She spun her staff quickly towards the mans head.

[mindin]

The man drew a dagger and got all the way through saying "You little bi..." before the staff connected with his temple and he was eating dirt.

Mindin then sheathed the blade of his long sword and pulled the great sword off his back. Because nothing unbalances a bandit quite like a great sword and at this point he could see none of them had the sense to bring a bow or even a shield. A sword and armor clothed all three.

One circled over to Delcea and thrust with his blade.
Mindin then charged around at the other two in a full swing with the great sword.

[Dulcea]

Dulcea smirked as she listened to the sweet sound of her staff smashing against the mans skull, sending him sprawling on the ground. She kicked him in the ribs a few times just for humor and stood in her stance again, ready for attacks.

She watched as one of the bandits charged at Mindin with his dagger drawn. He ran at him full speed, dagger pointed out in front of him, ready to pierce his skin. He thrust the dagger hard at Mindin when he was close enough to hit him.

Mindin felt the dagger scrape in resistance across his suit of half plate with a great deal of force though not nearly enough to go through metal. Mindin pinwheeled the great sword around his back as soon as he felt the blade scratch armor in a attack which would hopefully cleave the man in two.

Delcea then saw a rather similar attack of a man rushing forward with a dagger with a slight variation. At the last second before coming in staff reach he let the dagger fly. It was sailing a path through the air straight at her lower right thy.

[Dulcea]

The attacker screamed in agony for just a few moments before his split body fell to the ground, blood soaking into the dry dirt below him. One of the bandits began running away, knowing that he'd probably be killed if he stayed any longer.

Dulcea watched as the man was split in two, holding back a smile at the site of blood. Sure she was bloodthirsty but that was how she grew up to be. She shifted her gaze quickly as she sat a man coming at her, throwing a dagger which was heading towards her thigh. She jumped high up in the air, feeling the dagger just barely skim her skin, causing but a few droplets of blood as she landed on the ground. It was on now.. Dulcea drew her long sword from it's sheath, let out a howl, and dove at the man, aiming for his chest.

The man stood in horror of the leap. It was unanticipated and looked to be his death. In that split second decision he decided that if he'd fall today something would fall with him, either her or her blood. He pulled a short already unsheathed blade from under his coat and held it firm and charged straight at he as she dove at him also aiming for the chest.

Mindin looked momentarily at the runner and shrugged grabbing a dagger from his fallen victim and through it at the man running at Dulcea.

[Dulcea]

Dulcea didn't have any time to react to the dagger that was pointed in her direction. She was soaring gracefully through the air as if in slow motion. She closed her eyes as she waited to feel the coolness of the silver blade slip into the soft flesh that covered her toned stomach.

Out of no where she opened her eyes and saw the man drop the dagger. Another dagger, thrown by Mindin, had pierced the side of his neck, spurting blood everywhere. Dulcea landed on the ground and rolled up to her feet, giving Mindin a nod as she did so.

Another one of the bandits, a rather large grungy looking one, had drawn a bow and arrow and was aiming it at Mindin. "Archer!" Dulcea yelled as she looked at the man with the bow. He drew back the string and let the arrow fly, it soaring through the air at Mindins back.

Don't it suck to be wrong Mindin thought to himself as he heard the arrows whistled into his right shoulder. Mindin stumbled a step forward and planted his great sword into the ground. He then unsheathed his long sword and pulled his shield off his back left handed. He then started to charge the archer hoping to force him to draw steel or be impaled.

[Dulcea]

Dulcea cringed at the sight of the arrow penetrating the soft flesh on Mindins shoulder. She had felt the pain of an arrow..A few poison ones at that. Those were always the worst. The stinging pain of the venom shooting through you was unbearable. Dulcea watched Mindin charge the man.

The man laughed when the arrow hit Mindin. But before he could do anything more, he saw Mindin coming at him. There wasn't time to draw another arrow so he pulled out his short sword. "come on. I've got a blade with your name on it." he said with a sneer as he jabbed at the running Mindin.

That was the provoked response Mindin was looking for. This was a situation he was quite familiar with. Shield and Long sword vs. short sword. He rammed forward with the shield then took a step back and brought the long sword around. Mindin felt a quick rush of pain as the force of the small blade knocking aside his shield pushed his left arm back a fraction. "Retribution."
